Brunch with Bri – Tasting Kitchen

Brunch with Bri – Tasting Kitchen

To mark the inaugural Brunch with Bri I had to invite my dear friend Dante and his boyfriend Lane (and, of course, Josh!) up to Venice for brunch. It was Dante and our friend Gabe who brainstormed this brilliant blog idea last year and it only seems fitting to involve these boys.

I decided we had to take them to the Tasting Kitchen off Abbot Kinney which is one of my favorite (and decadent!) brunch spots. The food never disappoints and you always leave full and satisfied.

We agreed to brunch at the late hour of 2p which for us New Yorkers is a normal time to brunch but not when you live in LA. By 2p in LA, most people have already taken a run on the beach, enjoyed a yoga class and had a green juice. We eventually sat down and the Tasting Kitchen was packed to the brim.

It wasn’t until we looked at our menus that probably ¾ of the menu was marked as finished! I was shocked.

I have never been there when the menu only really had a couple of egg dishes and (thank god!) the fried chicken & waffles. Of course, it is never a dull moment with these boys so we had to give the waitress a hard time for this limited menu. In a nice way of course! 😉 I will admit that I also got teased quite a bit for inviting the boys to drive all the way up from Irvine to brunch with a limited menu.

Needless to say, we ate well and thank goodness there were delicious drinks and their amazing sticky bun which I pretty much order every time.

The boys were happy with their fried chicken and waffles and my omelette was yummy!

The takeaway is DON’T brunch in LA after 1p! Lesson learned.

BONJOUR. THE BLOG. Introduction 2015

I am thrilled to finally be launching my website and blog.

For years I have been searching for a way to combine my love for travel, pilates and art. I love all things fitness but I wanted to present it in a different way. Here in this blog you will find all of my passions!

In my Walls, Tables & Stages category, I will highlight my passion for delicious food, hip new restaurants, cutting edge theatre and the adventures of travel. FitSuite will focus on pilates, health & fitness with fun posts and soon some video tutorials to keep you active on the go.

Finally, there is Brunch with Bri – a section I am super excited about! Let me explain how this blog title came about and give credit to the creators. Last fall my dear friend Dante was in Los Angeles for a visit. He and I have spent many years dancing together at UArts and in NYC. We met up with our friend and college professor Gabe for dinner where we reminisced about the past. Conversation turned to my time in Paris and Gabe joked that every time he opened Facebook I was in a different fabulous country having brunch with a different fabulous friend. And that I should really just start a blog called Brunch with Bri because apparently that is all I do, brunch! We all thought it was a brilliant and delightfully fun idea and now it’s finally coming to fruition.

What I hope to do with this concept is use brunch as a way to meet up with friends no matter where we are in the world. So send me a note and maybe our paths will cross and we will get the chance to share a brunch together. So fun!

Sending my love and thanks to Dante and Gabe for their idea. I hope the 3 of us will be able to brunch in some fabulous locale soon!

xoxo
